Some of the most important economic victories never make headlines because they do not involve a new mine, factory or billion-dollar investment.
Zambia's latest breakthrough is one of them. By lowering future debt costs, the country has created room to spend more on things that directly support its economic growth. It is a reminder that good financial management can sometimes be just as valuable as attracting new investment.
For many African economies, the challenge is no longer simply borrowing money. It is making sure that every dollar saved or raised creates lasting value for the people and businesses that depend on it.

The West African nation of Burkina Faso was formerly known as Upper Volta. French colonists originally named the territory after the upper bends of the Volta River system, but the revolutionary president Thomas Sankara officially changed it in August 1984 to sever ties with the colonial past.
By combining words from two major indigenous languages, the modern name, Burkina Faso, beautifully translates to "The Land of Incorruptible People," reflecting the nation's cultural pride and foundational identity.
