Morocco requests US pilot training on F-35A stealth fighters

Morocco has submitted a formal request to the United States to train Royal Moroccan Air Force pilots on Lockheed Martin's F-35A stealth fighter jets, signaling preparations for a potential acquisition of the fifth-generation combat aircraft.

Citing operational requirements for land-based airfields, Rabat is seeking pilot instruction protocols at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona following an aerial demonstration by US Air Force F-35As at the Marrakech International Air Show.

If approved under the US Foreign Military Sales framework, the deal would make Morocco the second African nation to operate fifth-generation stealth fighters, balancing neighboring Algeria's acquisition of Russian Su-57 jets.

France expels Nigerien intelligence officers as Sahel security ties breakdown
France declared two Nigerien intelligence officers assigned to Niger's Paris embassy persona non grata and ordered their departure following the complete termination of bilateral counterterrorism cooperation. The decision follows a similar incident involving two Malian intelligence officers a year prior, highlighting the complete breakdown of intelligence sharing between Paris and the military-led governments of the Sahel.
THE AFRICA ANGLE: Multinational firms and defense analysts should expect complete decoupling of Sahel security operations from Western frameworks as bilateral intelligence shifts toward Moscow.
