Dangote's record IPO is coming. The crude supply question is getting bigger

Nigeria's Dangote Refinery plans an October IPO targeting $5 billion, Africa's largest listing, to help fund doubling its capacity within three years.

Operating above its 650,000 barrels per day capacity after high demand during the Iran war, the refinery faces investor focus on crude supply costs.

Despite Nigeria being Africa's top crude producer, state-backed loan commitments force Dangote to import 30% to 40% of its crude intake in dollars from sources like the U.S. and Guyana. Additionally, domestic crude priced in naira remains expensive due to international benchmark logistics costs.
