Announced at the Financial Times Africa Summit in London, the transaction aligns with Dangote's proposed $16 billion, 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery at Kenya's Lamu port. Dangote also committed $1.5 billion toward expanding KPC’s 1,300-kilometer pipeline network, which transports refined petroleum from Mombasa across Kenya to landlocked markets in Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

US military intelligence tracks expanding Russian airbases and warplane deployments in Libya
American security analysts are closely monitoring Russian military expansion across six airbases in Libya, including Jufra, Brak Al-Shati, and Maaten Al-Sarra near the Chad-Sudan border. Satellite surveillance indicates increased deployments of MiG-29 fighter jets, air defense systems, and armed drones, underscoring Moscow's efforts to establish a permanent strategic military hub connecting North Africa to the Sahel.
THE AFRICA ANGLE: Defense analysts warn that expanding foreign military footprints across Libya complicate regional stabilization and increase security risks along Sahelian trade corridors.
