OPENING SIGNAL
ANGOLA’S NEW OIL FIND COMES WITH A SHORTER ROUTE TO MARKET

Chevron discovered oil and gas condensate at an exploration well in Block 0 in Angola's Lower Congo Basin. The well encountered an oil and gas condensate column exceeding 600 meters in the Pinda reservoir, with over 90 meters of net pay in high-quality rock.

Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil operates the block with a 39.2% interest alongside Sonangol E&P, TotalEnergies, and Azule Energy.

The company plans to assess whether the discovery can be tied to nearby existing facilities to reduce costs and accelerate production while pursuing a multi-well exploration program across sub-Saharan Africa.

Oil rises as U.S.–Iran peace hopes fade
Brent climbed to $91.76 a barrel as supply risks returned. Angola and Nigeria gain export value if volumes hold. Import-dependent economies such as Kenya, Ghana and South Africa face higher fuel bills, currency pressure and renewed inflation risk. Airlines, manufacturers and logistics companies should update fuel and freight assumptions together, because a stronger dollar could amplify the cost.
THE AFRICA ANGLE: Exporters gain only if volumes hold; importers should watch oil and the dollar as one combined cost.
